South Omaha Veterans Memorial Bridge Opening

The South Omaha Veterans Memorial Bridge has been taking me, my friends and family to drive in movies at the Council Bluffs Drive-in for as long as I can remember. Before it was closed on September 8, 2009, at 9 am it was high, long and narrow. This could be nerve racking for people that don't like bridges anyway (Jodi, Linda). There was a ceremony with IA and NE Govenors cutting ribbon. Lee was invited to bring his '41 Plymouth Business Mans Coupe. Lee let me tag along to be the photo journalist. Nice sunny day for such a grand opening.

The Distinguished Riders of Monday Night

There was a stiff south breeze for the MNR tonight. Good thing, with the humidity and temps higher than we are used to. Great to see some new riders joining us tonight, Rob and Russ just to name a few. Thanks for sponsoring post ride suds Mike and Dale. And we really liked the good brats too Dale. I supplied the hot sauce. Brats without hot sauce is just uncivilized.

Get ready world...

My oldest daughter Cali finished the High School challenge. Her graduation ceremony was today. She did a fine job of it, graduating in the top 10% of her class at Omaha Central High School. She will be going to Doane College in the fall.

My Server Cabinet Locker at Work

I wanted to keep some of my work clothes at my workplace. That way I could wear what I want when I ride my bike to work. I have a friend at work I've known for the last 14 years and he has great ideas. When I mentioned to Lee that my clothes were getting knocked on the floor and messed with in the office coat closet he built me a locker. It's in a place that not many have access to. The locker is built out of a server cabinet that was not being used anymore. It sits in the corner of our development LAB. Lee cut a piece of conduit to make a hanger rod. It's perfect! Thanks Lee.

Second Trail Day at Adams Park

The loop is all but complete. Probably one more trail day would do it. Thanks to the mechanized help from the sod cutter and it's operator, Steve Dickey the THOR team made big progress on this project. I'm sure we'll all sleep good tonight after moving several truckloads of sod. The local kids were already riding it as we finished up at about 1PM.

Friday Tranquility

I thought the trails would be too soft to ride after work yesterday. I was wrong. The trails dried up nice. Saw Dmars on the way to his Friday ride. I found him later on the third camel hump at Tranquility and we rode a lap together. Dmars was torturing himself with a highly geared single speed. I felt kind of guilty as I shifted thought my gears. The tom turkey was pissed off at us as we exited the Fort St Loop. He did not like us riding through his territory while he was chasing his hens and gobbled loudly at us. Much of the trails are mowed but still some needs to be. The blue sky and light winds were outstanding. Jodi, Cali, the dogs and I walked through the tree farm later that evening. We feel lucky to have this place close to our neighborhood.

Wednesday Tuesday Tranquility Trailwork

There will be some trailwork going on at Tranquility on Wednesday May 12th. I'll be mowing the 'Ice Loop' this evening at 6PM. Want to join me?
Edit...
The weather Wednesday looks bad. Shifting trailwork efforts to today - Tuesday May 11th.

Got out for some fishing this morning.

Took a quick trip to Bennington this morning to see if the Bass were biting yet. It was cool and breezy but I did catch a few. The water was clear enough to actually see the fish take my bait. They really were not biting much. I could see some good sized Bass in the water but had a hard time getting them to take the bait. All I had with me this morning was a weedless purple plastic worm. Next time I'll actually bring some different tackle to try.

Who is Stratomatic?

My photo
Stratomatica - is my blog place where I document things happening around me or that interest me. The name Strata, geologically speaking, are layers of sedimentary rock or soil with internally consistent characteristics that distinguish it from other layers. Too deep? Well, I like guitars. Mostly I like the sound and feel of Stratocasters.
